Gokarna Dhungana has been actively involved in the disability sector since 2015, working to promote skill development, livelihood opportunities, economic empowerment, inclusive employment, and social inclusion of persons with disabilities. His work has focused on creating opportunities for persons with disabilities to develop their skills, achieve greater independence, and participate meaningfully in society.
He has also been involved in promoting sports and recreational activities as an important means of inclusion and empowerment for persons with disabilities. His engagement in the development of wheelchair rugby in Nepal reflects his commitment to creating opportunities for people with significant physical disabilities to participate in competitive sports, build confidence, and strengthen social connections. Nepal’s first official wheelchair rugby match was held in 2025, with Dhungana involved in the event as a representative of BIA Institute.
Gokarna Dhungana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Master’s degrees in Political Science and International Relations and Diplomacy. He is currently pursuing an M.Phil.–Ph.D. in International Relations and Diplomacy at Tribhuvan University.
As the Secretary of Wheelchair Rugby Association of Nepal, he is committed to contributing his experience and expertise toward the development and promotion of wheelchair rugby in Nepal. His areas of interest include disability inclusion, accessible sports, inclusive employment, livelihood development, social empowerment, and creating equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.
